August is just around the corner, which means last minute logistics are underway for the 26th Annual Honor Credit Union Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic to be held on Saturday, August 9. Last year’s race was a huge success, thanks in part to all of the volunteers who so generously gave their time and talents to a wonderful community event. If there is any way you could help us get some last minute volunteers we would be so grateful! Below are some examples of what we need volunteers for. Help us to continue this tradition of outstanding community involvement.

On August 9th, the 26th Annual Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic in Marquette County, Michigan makes its return! As the state’s largest point-to-point, mass start mountain bike race, this exciting event draws thousands of riders and spectators to the area. From rugged trails to incredible views, it’s an unforgettable day of outdoor adventure.

At the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market, you will find over 70 vendors gathered to exhibit their locally grown, collected, and crafted products. Stop by the Marquette Commons every Saturday from 9 am – 1 pm to enjoy local farmers, bakers, artisans, musicians, and more!

Seney National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and the Friends of Seney National Wildlife Refuge invite you to participate in a series of Community Read events featuring the transformative book, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teaching of Plants ! This enlightening work by Robin Wall Kimmerer weaves together narratives that seek to heal our bond with the natural world. The Marquette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host a Public Open House on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. to solicit community feedback on the development of a comprehensive downtown wayfinding and signage system. The event will take place at the Marquette Commons, 112 S. Third St. and is open to all members of the public. The DDA has engaged Corbin Design (www.corbindesign.com), a nationally recognized leader in wayfinding planning and design, to create a system that will enhance navigation throughout the downtown district. Washington St. into a festive Night Market where you will find over 60 vendors gathered to exhibit their locally grown, collected, and crafted products. Stop by every Wednesday night from 5 pm – 8 pm to enjoy local farmers, bakers, artisans, musicians, and more!

Marquette County Habitat for Humanity is proud to host its annual Women Build event from Thursday, August 14 through Saturday, August 16, 2025. This empowering event promotes gender equity and inclusion in construction and other skilled trades, and this year embraces the theme: “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating and Inspiring Generations.” Women Build provides an opportunity for individuals to come together to learn new skills, build confidence, and support safe, affordable housing for families in need. Marquette -Silver Creek Church and Silver Creek Thrift are partnering with Feeding America West Michigan to host a Mobile Food Pantry. Taking place on Thursday, August 14. Food distribution will begin at 10:00am and continue while supplies last or until 11:30am. Food will be available for approximately 550 families. Due to changes with Feeding America West Michigan, proxy pickup will be limited. This will be a drive-thru event with directions given by parking lot attendants. Guests are asked to remain in their cars and have adequate space prepared in their trunk or back seat in advance to allow the distribution

Thursday, August 14th at 2pm, the library will be hosting their regular Crochet Club program in combination with a Project Linus Meet-up. Project Linus now has a Marquette County Chapter that accepts handmade blankets of all types and sizes that will be donated to local children and teens in need. ICPL is a drop off location for these blankets!
