The November meeting of the Houghton-Keweenaw Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will be held on Tuesday, November 4th at the Bonfire in Houghton. Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will present a public forum online titled “What Is Ranked-Choice Voting & the Michigan Rank MI Vote Ballot Proposal?” from 10:30-11:30 AM on Sunday, November 9. The speaker will be Lisa Nelson, a Copper Country League of Women Voters member and a member of the UP Rank MI Vote team. She will explain ranked-choice voting, a system which gives voters more choices and power by allowing voters to rank candidates in order of preference. She will also talk about the proposed statewide ballot measure to adopt ranked-choice voting for all state and federal elections. The Chassell Post 6507 VFW and Auxiliary will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, November 11, from 2pm-6pm. Appointments are available by calling 906-449-1450, but walk-ins are welcome.
