February 23, 2026-January 2, 2027 This exhibit showcases two hundred and fifty artifacts, photographs, and documents from our permanent collections. These objects connect local history to the national story while commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has often seemed remote from the rest of the country. However, the themes and movements of U.S. history can be seen here as well, especially since the War of 1812. The first market of the Downtown Marquette Wednesday Night Farmers Market 2026 season is Wednesday, June 10, from 5 PM – 8 PM on the 100 block of W. The Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority (IOHRA) has been notified that the Negaunee Township Fire/Search & Rescue Department will conduct a training exercise on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15. Saturday Morning Farmers Market Saturdays, May 16 – Nov., 9 am – 1 pm July 4, 2026 11:00am Harlow Park The Freedom Monument podiums have been installed at Harlow Park (corner of W Washington St and N 7th St) within the Veterans Memorial Mall. A formal dedication ceremony will take place on July 4, 2026 at 11:00am as a part of the American Legion Post 44 Independence Day event. In addition to their commemorative function, the granite podiums will serve as a platform for ongoing education and civic engagement, offering space for community groups and classrooms. The project was made possible by the Katers family and supported by Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral Home, Sunburst This year’s Marquette July 4th Parade is special since we celebrate our Nation’s 250th Birthday. The theme for the Parade is One Nation Indivisible – 250 Years. Parade start time: 2pm at McClellan and Washington.
