Wild Ones Native Plant Sale The Wild Ones Keweenaw chapter is offering a selection of over two dozen native plants to get you gardening for butterflies, birds, and pollinators. Visit the shop at keweenaw.wildones.org and place your order. You can then pick up your plants in Houghton. The deadline getting your plants is July 23. In addition to native classics like common milkweed, lance-leaf coreopsis and wild bergamot, Wild Ones is offering some species for the first time, including blue false indigo and western sunflower. UP Wild in the Keweenaw would like to announce its upcoming monthly event. Wilderness Walk Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Gratiot River County Park., Allouez, MI The Wilderness Walks are opportunities to connect with God and each other in an outdoor natural setting. Each walk has a leader who will guide the walk and stop along the way for readings and reflection. The walks are appropriate for all ages including families and children. Everyone is welcome, no religious affiliation is necessary.
A Good Trouble Rally is scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 17th, by Keweenaw Indivisible, and we are joining them. Please bring a water bottle, dress appropriately for the weather, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. And spread the word! In support of the Good Trouble Rally at Houghton’s Veterans Park at 4:00 pm, a MotorMarch is being staged. Meet at the Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship parking lot at 3 pm to decorate your car. Participants will decorate their private vehicles with signs or slogans drawn on side windows with “windshield markers.”
July 17th – Pasi Lautala Family: Trio Tumpelot & Majority Finn 7pm at the Chassell Heritage Center Trio Tumpleot plays folk and dance hall music from Finland and elsewhere. The trio consists of Pasi lautala on accordion and vocals, Meg Pachmeyer on bass and Anna Gawboy on concertina. Majority Finn consists of Pasi, Olivi and Ansel Lautala and Mag Pachmeyer playing Finnish music from the Last century to today, including originals written by the band members.
